The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, concluded with the adoption of the new Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP) for 2026–2034. This nine-year framework is designed to place gender equality at the heart of global climate policy and action, focusing on safer participation for women and girls, stronger gender-responsive data, finance, and technology transfer. The plan explicitly acknowledges the varying impacts of climate change on vulnerable groups, including women environmental defenders and smallholder farmers.
