Keyi Panyor Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta recently visited 22 schools—including three higher secondary, three secondary, and 16 upper primary schools—across Yachuli, Yazali, Pistana, Kora, and Deed circles, as part of efforts to enhance the district’s education sector.
Accompanied by education department officials, the DC announced upgrades for several schools, including Talo and Yazali Higher Secondary Schools, PMSHRI UPS Yazali, and Lichlith Secondary School. These upgrades include installation of water tanks, purification systems, CCTV cameras, internet access, hostel beds, tables, and fans, with support from the Keyi Panyor SP.
To address staff absenteeism, the district administration will issue show-cause notices to absent headmasters and teachers, suspend salaries, and replace non-performing headmasters.
Additional initiatives include setting up ‘vision boards’ in classrooms for students from Class 5 onwards to write their career goals, and creating ‘walls of fame’ in each school to recognize achievers. The administration also plans to provide laboratory equipment, improve school infrastructure—especially toilets and electricity—and ensure regular monitoring, while holding School Management Committees accountable for overall school performance.
