Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the country’s first Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Centre in Doimukh, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission. This centre aims to ensure that all children achieve foundational literacy and numeracy skills by the end of Grade 3, incorporating local cultural elements. The FLN Centre employs a play-based, child-centric pedagogy, promotes mother tongue instruction in early grades, and focuses on continuous assessment and teacher capacity building with community involvement. Khandu acknowledged the contributions from various stakeholders, including NHPC, HDFC, and others, and praised Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek and District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Visakha Yadav for their dedication in realizing this vision.
