The India AI Impact Summit 2026, held this week in New Delhi, has triggered a massive wave of investment from the world’s leading technology companies. Giants like Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, and Nvidia, alongside domestic powerhouses like Reliance and Adani, have pledged over $260 billion toward India’s AI infrastructure. Highlights include Google’s $15 billion data center hub in Visakhapatnam and Microsoft’s commitment to invest $50 billion across the Global South by 2030, with India as a primary focus. These investments aim to build high-performance computing clusters, subsea cables, and indigenous AI models tailored for the Indian market.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the summit, emphasized that India is no longer just a consumer of technology but is rapidly becoming a creator. Under the ₹10,372 crore IndiaAI Mission, the government is democratizing access to high-end GPUs for startups and students, aiming to place India among the top three global AI powers by 2047. With the IT sector projected to reach $400 billion by 2030 driven by AI-powered services, New Delhi is leveraging its vast talent pool and unique digital public infrastructure to bridge the urban-rural divide and lead the “Intelligence Century” from the Global South
