Chief Minister Pema Khandu, along with Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kiren Rijiju, conducted an aerial and ground assessment of flood damage caused by the Sibo Korong River in Boying village near Pasighat on Wednesday. The high-level delegation arrived in Pasighat and proceeded directly to the affected areas to review the extent of destruction.
Officials said the team carried out detailed aerial reconnaissance followed by on-ground inspection to assess damage to residential houses, agricultural land, and public infrastructure. The leaders also interacted with affected families and reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures being implemented by the district administration.
Describing the situation, Chief Minister Khandu said the damage caused by the overflowing river was extensive and required long-term intervention. He assured that the state government, in coordination with the Centre, would prepare a permanent flood protection plan for the Sibo Korong River basin to prevent recurring devastation.
Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kiren Rijiju assured full central support for both immediate relief and long-term mitigation efforts. They emphasized the need for durable engineering solutions to address the recurring flood problem in the region and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to supporting rehabilitation and restoration efforts.
Meanwhile, district authorities are providing temporary shelters, food, drinking water, and medical assistance to displaced families. Damage assessment teams have been deployed to document losses, which will form the basis for compensation and reconstruction work.
