IFFCO, the world’s No.1 cooperative, has welcomed the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, 2025, passed by the LokSabha on March 26. This landmark decision will establish India’s first cooperative university, focusing on professional development, self-employment, and rural economic growth.

Union Minister of Cooperation and Home Affairs Amit Shah highlighted that the university will equip cooperatives with modern education, research, and leadership training. Dr. Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO, praised the initiative, stating that it will revolutionize the cooperative sector by creating a skilled workforce for cooperative management and marketing. IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani emphasized that the institution will prepare future cooperative leaders and expand the sector’s global footprint.

With over 8 lakh professionals expected to be trained annually, the university is set to become a center for cooperative education and research. International Cooperative Alliance Director General Jeroen Douglas hailed it as a milestone for the global cooperative movement, reinforcing India’s leadership in the sector.
