Another Sri Lankan player has been sanctioned by the ICC during the ongoing second Test against India in Colombo. After Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando, spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has now received an official reprimand.

Jayasuriya was punished for his conduct after being dismissed in Sri Lanka’s first innings. He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers the misuse or abuse of cricket equipment and ground fixtures.

The Sri Lankan spinner was dismissed by Manav Suthar on the final delivery of the second day. While heading back to the pavilion, he struck the boundary wedges with his bat.

Jayasuriya has also been awarded one demerit point, his first offence in the last 24 months.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal and Fernando were earlier fined 25 per cent of their respective match fees after their Day 1 confrontation. Both players were found guilty of a Level 1 breach involving inappropriate physical contact and received one demerit point each.
