The prospects of young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi getting a place in India’s playing eleven have brightened significantly ahead of the second T20I against New Zealand after the BCCI verified that Ishan Kishan has been forced out of the contest with a low-grade right adductor strain sustained in the previous match. India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak explained to reporters that a groin strain trouble forced the team to alter their batting hierarchy and push Tilak Varma up to number three, admitting that Ishan is doubtful to make a quick return for Saturday’s encounter. Earlier, skipper Shreyas Iyer had shut down discussions regarding accommodating Sooryavanshi into the playing combination given the reliable run-scoring form of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, preferring to look at the tour as valuable overseas exposure for the youngster, but with Kishan now sidelined, the team management faces a compelling situation that could pave the way for the teenager to make his mark.
