A Hindi–Nyishi stage play titled Money Money Money: Brighter than Sunshine, Sweeter than Honey has become one of the most discussed productions at the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav this year. The play drew strong response from the audience and also received appreciation from theatre watchers during the ongoing festival in Arunachal Pradesh. The play was presented as a cultural initiative supported by Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung for the newly created Keyi Panyor district. The director of the production, theatre educator Rilli Ngomle, guided a group of local artistes in a story that explored how money and the constant desire for more income have started affecting daily life in many ways.

The play looked at issues such as how the chase for wealth can change personal relationships, influence major decisions and even shape the values of a community over time. One special feature of the performance was its interactive nature. The audience was drawn into different moments on stage and spectators were encouraged to respond, react and take part. This format brought traditional storytelling together with modern stage practices and created a feeling of open conversation rather than a regular theatre viewing experience.

The Arunachal Rang Mahotsav has become known for focusing on theatre that is rooted in local identity and that also deals with important social themes. This year’s festival continued that approach. The response to Money Money Money showed that audiences are willing to engage with such themes in an open way and the production gained attention from both young viewers and seasoned theatre lovers.
