African nations are accelerating their transition to renewable energy as global pressure mounts to reduce carbon emissions. Kenya and South Africa have emerged as leaders, with massive investments in solar and wind power projects supported by international climate funds.

Kenya’s Turkana Wind Farm, one of the largest in Africa, now supplies nearly 17% of the country’s electricity needs. Meanwhile, South Africa recently launched a $2.5 billion solar corridor aimed at reducing dependence on coal.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged $20 billion in financing for green projects over the next decade. Experts believe the continent’s renewable energy transition could attract global investors and create millions of new jobs.

For India, which is also expanding solar energy, Africa’s model serves as a potential partnership opportunity in sustainable development and technology exchange.
