The curtains came down on the vibrant two-day youth carnival at the Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU) in Lower Subansiri district on Friday. Themed ‘Celebrate, Express, Inspire,’ the event served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual prowess, and creative talents. The carnival was organized by the university’s Department of Commerce and Management in strategic collaboration with the state’s Department of Trade and Commerce.

The festivities kicked off on Thursday with an array of student-led stalls featuring diverse local food and indigenous crafts. A major highlight of the opening day was the business idea pitch competition, where aspiring student entrepreneurs presented innovative concepts to a panel of experts. The event was formally inaugurated by Additional Director of Textile & Handicrafts, Toko Okey, and DIPRO Tenzing T Totpa, who encouraged the students to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry application.

The final day of the carnival shifted its focus toward intellectual and artistic challenges. Students participated in a rigorous three-round quiz competition that tested their general knowledge and academic aptitude. The energy remained high during the much-anticipated fashion show, which saw participants progress from a creative ‘Go as you like’ segment to a sophisticated ‘formal round,’ demonstrating both versatility and confidence.

Addressing the valedictory function, Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme highlighted the vital role of the youth in driving local development. The DC emphasized that such platforms are essential for building leadership qualities and fostering a sense of community responsibility among students. Alongside District Art and Culture Officer Tapi Rimu, the DC presided over the awards ceremony, honoring the winners of the various competitions held over the two days.

The success of the carnival was bolstered by the presence of several key officials and professionals, including DTO Tai Arun, NABARD DDM Lalit Maurya, Ziro Press Club Secretary Mihin Nancy, and IGTAMSU Registrar Prasant Roy. These guests provided the students with valuable insights into entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and professional growth. Their involvement reinforced IGTAMSU’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals in Arunachal Pradesh, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the state’s socio-economic progress.
