The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has urged fish farmers in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district to take advantage of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Fisheries Scheme to expand their aquaculture activities and improve productivity.

Addressing a KCC-cum-Financial Literacy Workshop held at Tarin Aqua Park on Thursday, NABARD District Development Manager Dr. Lalit Kumar Maurya highlighted the importance of the KCC scheme in meeting the credit needs of farmers. He also briefed participants on the latest KCC guidelines, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and the Jan Samarth portal, which provide financial support for agricultural and allied sectors.

Lower Subansiri District Fisheries Development Officer L. Lasa outlined various Central and State Government initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and Atmanirbhar Bharat programmes. He also encouraged farmers to make use of the district’s two Fish Farmer Producer Organisations to strengthen marketing and collective business activities.

State Bank of India Chief Manager Sumit Brahma demonstrated the use of the Krishika mobile application for accessing KCC services and digital banking facilities. He also informed participants about education loan opportunities for higher studies.

The workshop, organised by Infoway IT Solutions, was attended by around 58 farmers and stakeholders. During the financial inclusion session, Lead District Manager Durga Boro explained various insurance and pension schemes aimed at enhancing financial security for rural households. Several officials from the banking and fisheries sectors also participated in the programme.
