Repolling in the panchayat elections was held in four districts of Arunachal Pradesh with no untoward incidents reported on Thursday, official sources said. The repolling commenced at 7am and continued till 1pm in a peaceful manner, Arunachal Pradesh State Election Commissioner Rinchin Tashi said. According to reports, 231 out of 340 electors cast their votes at the Government Upper Primary School (GUPS), Nedo, in Bichom district, recording a turnout of 67.94 per cent.


In Kamle district’s Rotom Zilla Parishad constituency, 171 of the 222 registered electors cast their votes, registering a turnout of 77.03 per cent. At GUPS Nongkhon in Namsai district, 50 out of 58 voters cast their votes, registering a turnout of 86.21 per cent, while in Tirap district’s Laho Gram Panchayat segment under Dadam circle, 258 of 308 voters voted, recording an 83.77 per cent turnout. The Election Commissioner said repolling was conducted at seven polling stations, including GUPS Nedo in Bichom district, GUPS Nongkhon (Nongkon) in Namsai district, Rotom Polling Station in Kamle district, and four polling stations under Laho Gram Panchayat in Tirap district. The State Election Commission (SEC) has announced re-polling in selected polling stations across four districts of the state following reports of irregularities.
