As part of the Road Safety Month celebration, a road safety awareness programme was conducted at Dorjee Khandu Government College in Tawang on Friday. The programme was graced by Additional DC cum District Transport Officer Tawang, Rinchin Leta and Deputy SP Kesang Norbu who delivered an insightful and impactful address on road safety measures, the role of police in traffic management, cybercrime awareness, ill effects of drug abuse, importance of education and value of human life. During the programme, the students were sensitized on the POCSO Act and NDPS Act, creating awareness about legal safeguards and responsibilities. Besides, they were sensitized on new criminal laws, the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Amended MV Act, 2019. The programme culminated with a Road Safety Pledge, reinforcing the commitment towards safer roads and responsible citizenship. The event was informative, engaging, and highly beneficial for the students, emphasizing that road safety is not just a rule, but a responsibility. The session concluded with the free distribution of helmets to the collegians.
