Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday dedicated the re-rated Kitpi Mini Hydel Project (Phase–I) to the people of Tawang. Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein; MLAs Tsering Lhamu and Namgay Tsering among other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Located at Kitpi village on the Nametrong River, this project is a small hydropower plant that generates electricity using the natural flow of water. “With the re-rating from 3×500 KW to 2×750 KW, we have enhanced its efficiency and capacity, producing more power through better optimization of resources,” the Chief Minister said. “This will lead to improved and stable electricity supply, greater use of clean and renewable energy, and reduced dependence on other power sources,” he said. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Deputy Commissioners’ conference in Tawang. “While resources, education, and cultural heritage are vital components of a nation’s strength, they are not the ultimate drivers of progress. Unless our systems and institutions are efficient, responsive, and accountable, no amount of investment or social progress can truly accelerate development,” he said.
