The Youth Mission for Clean River (YMCR) has called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu to enact a river protection law in Arunachal Pradesh to address threats to waterbodies. The team, led by chairman S D Loda, proposed a new legislation that would clearly define community responsibilities and enforcement mechanisms. The YMCR also called for the creation of a dedicated department under the environment or water resources department to monitor river health, enforce regulations, coordinate restoration efforts, and conduct public education. The YMCR also proposed an annual ‘Arunachal River Day’ and a state-level conclave on environmental protection.
