The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released findings from its Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted across key locations in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, including Itanagar, Naharlagun, Dimapur, Kohima, and the strategic Itanagar–Bumla Pass (Tawang) highway. The test, carried out from June 2 to 23, assessed real-time voice and data performance across urban, rural, and highway settings, covering 270.3 km of city roads, 526.6 km of highways, and 28 hotspot zones.
Key telecom players—Airtel, BSNL, RJIL, and VIL—were assessed across technologies from 2G to 5G. Airtel and RJIL led in Call Setup Success Rates (90.11% and 89.73% respectively), while BSNL lagged at 49.45%. Peak 5G download speed touched 299.92 Mbps, with 44.38 Mbps upload speed in hotspot areas.
In Itanagar, the response has been notably optimistic following the TRAI assessment. With growing demand for reliable digital connectivity in hubs like Daily Market, Doimukh, and Doni Colony, local businesses and service sectors anticipate a boost in e-commerce, logistics, and digital services, especially amid the rise in mobile-first consumers.
