Zeena Wahab got married just 15 days after the industry thought the ‘good-looking and young’ Aditya Pancholi would leave her in a week.
Zeena Wahab often talks about her inter-religious marriage with actor Aditya Pancholi, who is five years younger. The actors, who met on the sets of a film, decided to marry each other just 15 days after their meeting.
In a recent interview, the actress recalled how this instant and quick marriage started. It all started when the good-looking Aditya Pancholi could not hold back his flirting during a film shoot, the day the producer started packing his stuff.
Speaking to Safe, Nayandeep said, “We got married within 15-20 days of each other. We were working on the film Nari Hari. That was the time I met him. He was a very good-looking guy. He had shot a scene where he had to cry.
He started crying and didn’t act at all. We had to shoot Rocky Pad that day too. We were sitting in the same car when I held his hand and he said ‘don’t cry’. At that time, he held my hand and bit my hand and within 15 days we got married.
Everyone said, he is such a good-looking man. We got married, she left him in a week. And look, it’s been 38 years.” After the wedding, there were several reports of the actor’s affairs with his co-stars and others from the film industry, including an affair with a virgin actress.
While Zarina believed that Aditya often walked away from marriage, she often dismissed the fact that it ever hurt her. “People think I am a good-looking man, … I am very stressed. They just assume that ‘Aditya is looking at this and that girl, so he will be hurt’, not ‘Ye ladki lag rahi hai gareeb’.”
Zarina claimed that it is wrong to blame the unofficial man but not the girl who is in a divorce with him. “It is wrong. It is all in a phase that comes and goes. I don’t pick on these phases sometimes because I know sometimes he is not serious with anyone else because he loves her a lot.”
When asked why these rumours never made her feel bad, Zarina quickly replied, “I felt a little bad when I read the affair rumours but then I laughed at it too. I am not scared of what he does outside but when he enters the house, he is a wonderful father and husband.
And that is what matters to me. Don’t feel bad if he goes home with his affairs. Many men have affairs and then they also make their sisters. If I join these films, many people take me. If I start having sex on this, I will enjoy it. I don’t want to suffer, I love myself.” She clarified that she is not with the actor for any kind of date, but for love.
“I am very independent. Anyway I had to live alone, I have money and properties, but really I never thought about him. We never discussed it.” Earlier in an interview with Lehran Sonam, Zarina had said that she was always ready for affairs after marriage with her husband.
She said, “I always knew about Nirmal’s (Aditya’s real name) affairs, but I never questioned him. I am worried about how he behaved with me when he was at home. I ignored asking him questions because it would make him go berserk. I was completely prepared for her affairs.”
Aditya Pancholi was in the news for maintaining an extramarital affair with Kabir Bedi’s daughter Pooja Bedi. He was also rumoured to be dating actress Kangana Ranaut during the early days of his career. Zarina and Aditya got married in 1986. They are parents to a son Sooraj Pancholi and a daughter Sana Pancholi.
