Was the snake really guarding the jewels in the Jagannath temple of Puri? After 46 years, the treasure house was opened on Sunday. A team of 11 representatives made up of members of the Odisha government entered it. The president of that party is Justice Biswanath Rath of the Odisha High Court. He answered all the questions about the existence of snakes in the jewels. Reporters were told that the snake was not seen inside. A group of 11 members broke the lock and entered the inner room of the jewelry store in Puri temple on Sunday without getting the key.

Justice Rath said that the lock was broken in the presence of the District Magistrate and other officials. There is a popular belief that the jewels of Jagannath are guarded by snakes. Journalists ask about that. In response, Justice Roth said there was nothing like that. In his words, “The group that entered the jewels included seven to eight members of the temple committee. Many times they were busy as the journey had started. That’s why we didn’t have time to go through and remove all the gems. Another day has been fixed for removing the idol’s ornaments and jewels.”

Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Arbaninda Padhi said the key to the outer jewel chamber was kept by King Gajapati Maharaj of Puri. He said, “We entered the outer jewel room by taking the key from him.” He also said that the ornaments there were kept in the “temporary strong room” on the temple premises. It has been sealed in the presence of the District Magistrate. But the lock is too broken to enter the inner room.

The BJP government of Odisha has made a statement in this regard. The statement posted on social media said, “By the will of Lord Jagannath, Oriyas are moving forward with the Oriya identity. Earlier, the four doors of Jagannath temple were opened by your wish. This time, after 46 years, the doors of Ratnabhandar have been opened due to your wish.
