Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu has called for accurate ground-level data collection and greater youth participation in the farming sector, highlighting the immense employment potential of the livestock industry in Arunachal Pradesh.

Addressing officials during the District Veterinary Officers’ Conference-cum-Review Meeting held at DK Convention Hall on Wednesday, Wangsu stressed the importance of conducting the livestock census with utmost seriousness. He said inaccurate reporting often leads to poor planning and ineffective implementation of government programmes.

The minister urged officers to identify genuine and trained farmers so that government assistance reaches deserving beneficiaries. He also emphasised continued monitoring and support for trained aspirants even after the completion of training programmes.

Highlighting infrastructure development, Wangsu said resources should be utilised efficiently and assured officers that efforts would be made to secure adequate funding for new infrastructure projects. He announced that well-performing districts would receive priority support from the government.

Wangsu underscored the need to promote dairy farming and encouraged trained youths and progressive farmers to form Dairy Cooperative Societies, describing them as vital for expanding dairy-based livelihoods. He also stressed the importance of fodder development and informed that a state fodder policy would soon be drafted to ensure sufficient feed resources for livestock growth.

Calling for innovative approaches and stronger inter-departmental coordination, the minister said the department’s goal should extend beyond growth to achieving long-term prosperity for the animal husbandry sector. He assured officials of his full support in addressing departmental challenges and strengthening the sector’s future.
