The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), in collaboration with the Research and Seminar Cell of Government College Doimukh (GCD), organised an outreach programme at the college to create awareness among students about career opportunities and guide them towards achieving their professional goals. Addressing the students, APPSC Chairman Dr Pradip Lingfa explained the role of the commission as the apex body responsible for conducting various examinations and selecting candidates for public service. He urged students to work hard, remain persistent and avoid shortcuts in life, drawing on his own experiences to underline the importance of sustained effort. Lingfa said that right thoughts, actions, behaviour and habits can help individuals move towards their desired goals. He emphasised that extraordinary achievements require extraordinary efforts and advised students not to give up after facing failure. The chairman also highlighted the importance of personality development alongside academic performance, particularly for students preparing for competitive examinations. He encouraged them to strengthen their communication skills and leadership qualities, which he said can help candidates perform effectively in competitive examinations and professional settings. Lingfa further advised students to prepare a plan for each day and follow it sincerely, stressing that self-discipline is an important foundation for success. During the programme, he also provided students with information about examination procedures, syllabi and career opportunities available through public service. An interactive session was subsequently held, allowing students to engage with the APPSC representatives and seek clarification on matters related to examinations and careers. APPSC member Mepung Tadar Bage also addressed the gathering and encouraged students to move beyond their comfort zones. She advised them to participate in workshops, interact with people and gain exposure to different experiences that can contribute to their personal and professional development. Bage also urged students not to view government employment as the only career option. Instead, she encouraged them to explore opportunities in the private sector, entrepreneurship, technology, research and other emerging fields. Highlighting the importance of time management, she told students that time is among the most valuable resources during their academic years and that the opportunities available at this stage should be used effectively to build their careers. The outreach programme provided students with guidance on competitive examinations while also presenting a broader perspective on career planning. The interaction with APPSC officials offered participants an opportunity to understand public-service examinations and consider different professional pathways. The speakers collectively emphasised hard work, self-discipline, perseverance, personality development, communication skills and openness to diverse career opportunities. The programme was aimed at helping students make informed career choices and prepare themselves for future academic, professional and competitive challenges.
