An Assam Rifles personnel was killed and four others were injured in a suspected militant attack along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, close to an area where border fencing work is underway.
The deceased AR personnel has been identified as Havildar Jankhokai Kuki. The injured are receiving treatment at a local medical facility.
Preliminary reports indicate that the cross-border ambush may have been carried out by cadres belonging to the NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction).
Security forces and district police have launched an extensive combing and search operation in the area to track down the fleeing assailants.
