APAMB, SSB Sign MoU to Strengthen Rural Livelihoods in Arunachal The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen rural livelihoods and build stronger links between local farmers and security forces. Under the agreement, SSB will directly procure fruits, vegetables, meat and poultry from farmers, self-help groups, farmer-producer organisations and cooperatives. The initiative, launched under Mission Arun Himveer, aims to provide farmers with reliable markets while ensuring fresh and quality produce for SSB units across the state. Agriculture and Allied Minister Gabriel D Wangsu described the partnership as a win-win initiative, stressing the government’s focus on increasing agricultural production and creating dependable market linkages. SSB Inspector General Bishwajeet Kr Pal said procurement from villages, particularly under the Vibrant Villages Programme, would help increase farmers’ incomes in border areas while contributing to national security. He encouraged farmers to participate in GeM tendering for large-scale supplies and also proposed procuring indigenous millets from Arunachal. Officials highlighted the potential to supply dairy, fish and other products to SSB units. APAMB CEO Okit Palling noted that under Mission Krishi Veer, around 900 metric tonnes of fruits and vegetables worth more than Rs 1 crore have already been supplied to the Indian Army since 2022.
