The ruling BJP in Assam has begun organisational preparations for the forthcoming elections to the Silchar Municipal Corporation, Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council and Mising Autonomous Council.
Ahead of the elections, state BJP president Dilip Saikia has constituted three election management committees with the objective of ensuring smooth conduct of all the three elections and further strengthening the party’s organisational base,
Commenting on the development, BJP Assam Pradesh spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami said all the three elections are extremely important for the party.
“Backed by experienced leadership, a strong organisational foundation and the tireless efforts of party workers, BJP will enter all three electoral contests in a well-organised and strong manner,” Goswami said.
For the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation election, a 19-member election management committee has been constituted with Assam Cabinet minister Kaushik Rai as convener and MLA Rajdeep Roy as member-secretary.
For the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council election, a 14-member election management committee has been constituted with Assam Cabinet minister Ranoj Pegu as convener and state general secretary Rituparna Barua as member-secretary.
For the Mising Autonomous Council election, the BJP has constituted a strong and experienced election management committee. An 11-member committee has been formed with Assam Cabinet minister Bimal Bora as convener and MLA Bhuvan Pegu as member-secretary.
