A comprehensive career counselling and youth training programme was successfully conducted at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) on Monday. Organised under the central Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, the mega-event aimed to sensitise young and adolescent students to critical modern issues. The campaign seamlessly bridged essential life topics, ranging from gender equality and mental health to environmental sustainability and diverse career opportunities.
Administrative and law enforcement leaders took center stage to guide the young audience. Tawang Additional Deputy Commissioner Rinchin Leta urged students to adopt dedication, discipline, and determination as core pillars for academic and life success. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang delivered an essential legal awareness brief, educating the youth on drug abuse under the NDPS Act, child safety under the POCSO Act, and key road safety mandates outlined in the Motor Vehicles Act. Adding an environmental perspective, Kyidphel AC Sange Norbu explicitly warned against the ecological damages caused by single-use plastics.
The seminar also leaned heavily on expert-led technical sessions to provide holistic development. Clinical psychologists from KDS District Hospital addressed vital aspects of adolescent emotional well-being and the psychological hazards of drug addiction. Simultaneously, financial literacy, skill development opportunities, and career pathing were highlighted by a NABARD consultant. To inspire the students further, Lieutenant Colonel Mini Saxena of the 190 Mountain Brigade detailed prestigious career opportunities within the Indian Armed Forces.
Jointly orchestrated by the Tawang Department of Education and the Department of Information and Public Relations, the event successfully empowered the youth. By combining academic direction with crucial social, mental, and physical health awareness, the collaborative drive effectively equipped Tawang’s students to become legally aware, responsible, and ambitious citizens of tomorrow.
