National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was observed with great enthusiasm across Arunachal Pradesh, featuring collaborative blood donation camps and public awareness programmes in Ziro and Tawang aimed at promoting voluntary giving and ensuring a reliable supply of safe blood for patients in need. In Ziro, a successful camp was organized at the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital by the Apatani Teachers Welfare Forum in partnership with Mudo Tamo Memorial College and hospital authorities, drawing 48 dedicated participants—including 26 women—which ultimately resulted in the collection of 26 safe units of blood after rigorous screening, covering diverse blood groups alongside the felicitation of key community partners such as the 60th Battalion ITBP and the Apatani Baptist Association for their exemplary contributions. Simultaneously, the observance in Tawang at Kalawangpo Hall featured an impactful awareness drive and blood donation camp graced by local dignitaries, including Zilla Parishad Member Sonam Norzin as chief guest, Assistant Commissioner Tenzin Jambey as guest of honour, and the Commanding Officer of the local Field Hospital as special guest. During the event, District Medical Officer Dr. TD Namsa and State Blood Transfusion Council Deputy Director Dr. Joram Khopey underscored the vital humanitarian importance of maintaining adequate blood reserves and expanding transfusion services across the state. Speakers fervently appealed to the youth and local citizens to shed hesitation, embrace the noble habit of regular voluntary donation, and champion community health initiatives. By honoring prominent local organizations, educational institutions, and military units for their steadfast support, the statewide commemorations successfully fostered a culture of altruism and collective responsibility, reinforcing regional healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that life-saving blood resources remain readily accessible to every patient when seconds matter most.
