Flash floods have led to extensive destruction at Mane village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Siang district has suffered extensive destruction, causing immense hardships to families who have sought government assistance.
Villagers have appealed to the State Government and the local MLA to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation, stating that Mane is among the worst-affected villages in the district.
Addressing the media, the village leadership highlighted the severe damage to homes, public infrastructure, agricultural land, livestock, and essential services. According to the affected residents, several household properties and livelihoods have been washed away by the raging floodwaters.
The reported losses include the toilets of GPC Jirto Padung and Doli Miro, power tillers belonging to Yumte Riba and Tari Doke, and kitchens owned by Dakken Riba, Margim Taba, and Tashi Miroh. In addition, seven wet rice cultivation (WRC) fields along with field huts have been badly damaged.
The flood also swept away motorcycles belonging to Pakme Rina, Doli Miroh, and Kenpak Riba, while four cattle were lost, causing further hardship to the affected families.
Critical public infrastructure has also been severely impacted.
Power supply to Rine and Mane has been completely disrupted, while the PHED water supply system has been destroyed, leaving villagers without access to safe drinking water.
Roads and bridges connecting Mane and Lipin villages remain blocked, cutting off transportation and delaying relief efforts.
