Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has strongly emphasized the urgent need to preserve traditional languages, vocabulary, customs, and cultural identity, noting with concern that many ancient words and practices are gradually fading away. Speaking at a felicitation programme for meritorious Class 10 and 12 students, the Deputy Chief Minister called for strengthening cultural unity while deeply respecting the unique identity of the Tai community to ensure future generations remain connected to their rich heritage.
Congratulating the students on their academic achievements, Mein lauded their hard work and perseverance. He highlighted the state’s remarkable educational progress, pointing to improved infrastructure and expanded opportunities for higher learning that have created a highly conducive environment for success. He urged the youth to remain focused, embrace continuous learning, and pursue their goals with unwavering determination.
Echoing these sentiments, Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of the modern era. He stressed that academic scores alone do not define a person’s future, asserting that discipline, dedication, and a clear sense of purpose are what truly help individuals overcome limitations. Namchoom encouraged the students to acquire meaningful skills to contribute to society, while strongly urging the youth to stay away from drugs and social evils, uphold good values, and remain anchored in their history.
Held under the theme “Honouring Excellence, Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Future Generations,” the event celebrated top academic achievers and special distinction holders. The high-profile programme saw active participation from community leaders, teachers, parents, and key local organizations, including the All Tai Singpho Council, Tai Khamti Development Society, Tai Khamti Students Union, and the All Namsai Youth Association.
