The state tourism department organised a counselling programme for students selected under the Chief Minister’s Paryatan Shiksha Yojana (CMPSY) I and II for the 2026-27 academic session at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall.
The programme aimed to provide students and their parents with detailed information about professional courses, admission procedures, academic opportunities and career prospects in the tourism and hospitality sector. Representatives from leading institutes, including the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Guwahati; IHM Shillong; the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Bhubaneswar; and the Food Craft Institute (FCI), Nagaon, Assam, participated in the counselling session.
During the interactive programme, faculty members and institute representatives explained course structures, campus facilities, internship opportunities, placement prospects and other aspects of academic life. They also addressed queries from students and parents regarding admissions, fees, hostel facilities and future career opportunities.
The Chief Minister’s Paryatan Shiksha Yojana is a flagship initiative of the tourism department aimed at empowering youth by encouraging them to pursue professional careers in tourism and hospitality. Under the scheme, selected students receive support for enrolment in specialised courses at partner institutes, with the department covering their academic fees throughout the duration of the programme.
The initiative is expected to create skilled professionals, enhance employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of the tourism sector in the state.
