The proscribed Ulfa-I suffered yet another setback on Tuesday when two of its hard core cadres laid down arms before security forces in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh. The Myanmar-trained militants have been identified as Bhargab Hazarika alias Ban Asom and Astitva Axom. Sources said that they were brought to Tinsukia district of Assam for further questioning and legal proceedings after they were handed over to the Assam Police. According to the sources, the duo fled from the outfit’s camp in Myanmar and crossed the international border before surrendering in Arunachal Pradesh. This is the second blow suffered by the insurgent outfit within a month after Arunodoi Dohutia, a close aide of Ulfa-I chief Paresh Baruah, surrendered along with his bodyguard on November 23
