A part of Taiwan in East Asia shook on Wednesday morning. According to local sources, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.4 on the Richter scale. As a result of strong tremors, several multi-story buildings have been tilted in one direction, according to the administration. One person has died so far, according to local fire department sources. The number of injured is 50. A tsunami warning has been issued by Japan.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, and its surrounding areas were shaken around 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday. According to the USGS, the source of the earthquake was 18 kilometers from Hualien City in southern Taiwan, at a depth of 34.8 kilometers underground.

The earthquake triggered a tsunami warning for Japan’s southern islands by the Japan Meteorological Agency. According to the Japan Meteorological Department, the water may fall three meters above sea level. Arrangements have already been made to evacuate residents of Japan’s Okinawa island and other islands. A special rescue team has been deployed by the administration. Okinawa’s Naha Airport has been ordered to suspend flights by the administration due to the tsunami forecast. Next to Japan, a tsunami warning has also been issued in the Philippines.
