The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has issued a strong objection to a recently released United Nations world map depicting Arunachal Pradesh between Indian and Chinese claim lines, reaffirming that the state is an integral and inalienable part of India. In a statement issued on Thursday, APCC President Bosiram Siram declared that no foreign map, claim line, or unilateral assertion can alter India’s sovereignty over the territory, which has been fully integrated into the country’s constitutional, administrative, and democratic framework since Independence. Welcoming the Government of India’s formal objection to the inaccurate depiction, Siram clarified that India’s support for a UN General Assembly resolution on equal-area cartographic projections was meant to improve map accuracy, not to endorse disputed territorial claims. The party called on the UN to maintain strict neutrality and accuracy, demanding a formal review, correction of the database, and clarification regarding the source data and rationale used to represent the region. Beyond diplomatic pushback against foreign cartographic assertions and place-renaming initiatives, the APCC urged the Central and State governments to accelerate frontier infrastructure development—including all-weather roads, telecommunications, logistics, healthcare, and education—through schemes such as the Vibrant Villages Programme, border development initiatives, and the Vikshit Arunachal Mission. Furthermore, the APCC called for strengthening constitutional safeguards under Article 371H to protect indigenous land, customary institutions, cultural identity, and natural resources, reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh’s integration with India remains non-negotiable.
