In a stellar display of martial arts prowess, Arunachal Pradesh has made its mark on the national stage by clinching six medals at the recently concluded 4th Kudo National Championship in Pune, Maharashtra. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, the state’s eleven-member contingent secured two gold and four bronze medals, proving their mettle against the country’s finest practitioners.
The highlights of the tournament were the spectacular gold-medal victories by Hui Tajum and Yapi Paksok. According to the Arunachal Kudo Association, Tajum dominated the arena to secure his gold in the men’s above 31 age group with a physical index of 250. Matching his golden streak, Yapi Paksok delivered an outstanding performance to claim the top spot on the podium in the women’s above 21 category, also competing with a physical index of 250.
Adding to the state’s impressive medal tally, four athletes fought their way to secure bronze medals. The bronze medalists include Tam Lapang and Tarak Dolu Bai, both competing in the 250 physical index category. They were joined on the podium by Gii Doke, who competed in the 220 physical index category, and Tabit Taggu, who secured his bronze in the 210 physical index category.
Though Arunachal Pradesh fielded a compact squad of just eleven athletes, their high success rate reflects the rigorous training and rising standard of Kudo in the region. This remarkable achievement not only brings pride to the state but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring martial artists across Northeast India.
