The two-day summit brought together doctors, specialists, and health administrators from every corner of Meghalaya. The primary objective was to bridge the gap between emerging scientific research and grassroots healthcare delivery. Participants engaged in rigorous discussions regarding recent advancements in medical technology and the evolving challenges of public health in the region. The event’s significance was underscored by the presence of Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Minister lauded the medical fraternity for their unwavering dedication, noting that the strength of Meghalaya’s healthcare system rests on the shoulders of its hardworking doctors.

Addressing the audience, Minister Shylla said, “Our doctors are the backbone of our society. The government is fully aware of the challenges faced by our medical personnel, and we are committed to providing the necessary support and infrastructure to ensure they can serve the people effectively.”

A key highlight of the conference was the official release of the MMSA Souvenir by the Minister. This publication serves as a record of the association’s milestones and the scientific contributions made by its members over the past year.

Beyond the technical sessions, the conference emphasized the need for better decentralization and the streamlining of recruitment processes. The Minister expressed optimism that with the upcoming establishment of medical colleges in Shillong and Tura, the state is on the path to becoming self-reliant in medical manpower within the next five years.

As the conference wrapped up, the message was clear: collaboration and continuous scientific learning are the essential ingredients for a healthier Meghalaya. The MMSA has once again proven that through dialogue and dedication, the state can overcome its healthcare hurdles and provide better services for all.
