What began as a night of music for more than 20,000 fans in Guwahati has emerged as a case study in how live entertainment can create economic opportunities far beyond the concert venue. According to a report released by BookMyShow, Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ATDC) and EY-Parthenon, Post Malone’s first-ever India solo headline concert in Guwahati in December 2025 generated an estimated economic impact of over ₹43 crore. The report projects that Assam’s growing concert economy could contribute more than ₹700 crore to the state over the next five years.

The event drew visitors from over 200 cities and towns across India, with 53 per cent of attendees travelling from outside Guwahati. Their spending extended beyond tickets, benefiting hotels, restaurants, transport operators, retailers and local service providers. For every ₹100 spent on a concert ticket, visitors spent an additional ₹899 on travel, accommodation, dining, shopping and local experiences. Hotels reported a 30 per cent rise in occupancy, ride demand increased by over 50 per cent, while restaurants, cafés and retail outlets witnessed strong growth in customer footfalls. Many visitors also explored destinations such as Kaziranga National Park, Majuli Island, Kamakhya Temple and Sivasagar, spreading tourism benefits across the state.

The report highlights that around 2,500 people were engaged across security, hospitality, logistics, production and venue management, while local vendors contributed to infrastructure, food and beverage, branding and sustainability operations. Backed by Assam’s Concert Tourism Policy, infrastructure investments and ATDC’s single-window facilitation, Guwahati is increasingly emerging as a major live entertainment destination. With legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses set to perform in the city on November 17, 2026, stakeholders believe Assam’s concert economy is evolving into a powerful driver of tourism, employment and regional growth.
