Arunachal Pradesh athlete Rupa Bayor won a bronze medal for India at the 9th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships 2026, bringing recognition to both the state and the country on the international stage.Along with the bronze medal, the athlete was also honoured with the Best Female Fighting Spirit Award at the conclusion of the championship, adding another achievement to her performance at the continental event.Her success has been widely celebrated across Arunachal Pradesh, with sportspersons, officials and residents praising the achievement as an important moment for sports development in the state.

Congratulating the athlete, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said Rupa Bayor had made the state and the nation proud through her performance at the championship.The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations and expressed hope that her achievement would encourage more young athletes from Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast to pursue sports at higher levels. Sports enthusiasts in the state described the medal win as a major boost for taekwondo and women athletes from the region.
