The Jammu and Kashmir speedster Auqib Nabi—celebrated for his stellar contribution to J&K’s Ranji Trophy victory and his ODI debut for India against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, 2026—has been promoted to join India’s squad right from the start of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, replacing the injured Prasidh Krishna who was originally penciled in only for the final two matches. The BCCI formally announced the update via an official statement on Friday, with the board highlighting that the Men’s Selection Committee added the right-arm pace bowler to the team for the first three ODIs. Prasidh Krishna was forced out of the series due to a hamstring injury picked up during the second ODI against the West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, nullifying his conditional selection for the tour, and he will now fly to New Zealand next week to play the third unofficial Test for India A against New Zealand A in Lincoln, ensuring he regains proper match rhythm prior to the senior team’s two-match Test assignment.
