
SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has officially launched its cutting-edge electric city buses, the SWITCH EiV12 for India and the SWITCH E1 for Europe. The SWITCH EiV12, unveiled by ShriNitinGadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, is India’s first low-floor city bus with chassis-mounted batteries, offering over 400 kWh of scalable battery capacity. Designed for city commutes, it provides enhanced safety, comfort, and sustainability, with a capacity to seat 39 passengers.
The SWITCH E1, engineered for the European market, features in-wheel motors and a triple-door design, optimizing efficiency and passenger convenience. Both models leverage SWITCH’s advanced EV architecture, providing superior energy performance and minimal environmental impact.
The Indian electric city bus market is poised for significant growth, expected to expand at a CAGR of 21% by 2030. With over 1,800 pre-orders for the EiV12, SWITCH Mobility is positioning itself as a key player in the transition to green urban transport.
